In this episode our guest host Terrell "This Intangible Existence" Brinlee of Local Houston Music chats with Kelly Zwern, an Americana & Gospel singer/songwriter from Austin, TX now living in Houston, TX! Terrell chats with Kelly about her songwriting, her hunger for more of the Lord, her learning to play and sing and much, much more! Tune in to hear two amazing, original Kelly Zwern songs! Thank you to www.localhoustonmusic.com for another great episode!!

Kelly got a sudden nudge to pick up the guitar in her early 20's. Songwriting soon became her passion, but she had no musical background. On a whim, she auditioned for the school of music at Centenary College and was accepted. She soon began crafting songs. Her music is clearly influenced by folk rock, blues and Texas rock. With only one song under her belt, she entered a songwriting competition on campus and won second place. Kelly began playing in venues such as Momo's in Austin and Fitzgerald's in Houston. As life ebbed and flowed she continued to be prolific in writing but has taken a long break from performing. She now rejoins the music scene with new enthusiasm for sharing her intimate songs with us.

Thanks for checking out the 176th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode our host Boston Chris chats with Ashliegh Lisset from Dallas, TX! Boston chats with Ashliegh about losing her dad in action, what it's like being a survivor and how she paid tribute to her memory of him by pursuing his and her dreams of being a successful singer. They also chat about her first single having been co-written by Carrie Underwood and her current single being co-written by Kelsea Ballerini! Tune in to hear Ashliegh perform both songs! #PurgatoryPerhaps

(Courtesy of http://www.ashlieghlisset.com/)

Ashliegh Lisset, an independent country artist from the great state of Texas, is kind-hearted and cognizant of the impact music has on it's listeners. While this talented, young vocalist has always had a love and appreciation for music, she discovered it was her true passion at the time her world unexpectedly shattered around her.

When Ashliegh was eleven years old, her father, who was serving his second tour for Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in the line of duty. Just before his untimely death, Ashliegh’s father asked her to record Carrie Underwood’s “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” for him, but Ashliegh never had the opportunity to fulfill her father’s request. The memory of her father resonated with Ashliegh and she recognized that music helped fill the void in her heart and provided her with an incomparable escape. “I found so much comfort in music. It definitely helped me heal during the darkest moments of my life and continues to help me heal, present day. When I’m feeling down, I can write about it and get all the emotions out.” It was this realization that led Ashliegh to Nashville, Tennessee, where she began her journey as a singer/songwriter.

(Courtesy of https://www.facebook.com/JBandtheMoonshineBand/?ref=br_rs)

Some might say the four-piece JB and the Moonshine Band was born the day JB Patterson looked up to see that only three musicians had shown up at his open- call audition in his Tyler, Texas, hometown. Fortunately, Gabe Guevara (drums), Hayden McMullen (lead guitar) and Chris Flores (bass guitar) turned out to be the right three and, after a brief musical and personal get-to-know-you session, everyone realized the stars had aligned to bring them together.
