Rugged Grace is the modern day red dirt Johnny and June duo from Oklahoma. JD and Lexie having been playing music together for 3 years touring Oklahoma and the surrounding states. JD and Lexie met while working at a psychiatric hospital for children. They found they not only had a passion for helping sick children, but also for writing and playing music. JD and Lexie began their musical journey in front a small audience of family and friends at Eufaula Lake singing "Whenever You Come Around" by Vince Gill. There was no debate after that night if they wanted to pursue music as a career, rather than just entertaining family and friends.

Jeff Jacobs Band interests a wide variety of fans. “We appeal to people who listen to country and even some that regularly don’t. People tell us all the time that we don’t sound like anyone else,” and this is a natural reaction to Jeff, as he puts it, “because every song speaks to those who listen.” This individuality has earned them notice at every venue, and there is a common response. “We’ll play a set and take a break and fans come up and say ‘Where the hell have you been!’ like we’ve been hiding in plain sight,” chuckles Jeff.

In Episode 262 today on The ETX ROCKS Show, we talk to Houston, Tx native Madison Paige! Madison stops by and discusses her dream of being a performer, her songwriting, her bigger than life personality and why she feels so strongly about using her platform to speak out against bullying! Tune in for a great conversation AND 3 original songs from Madison Paige!!

(Courtesy of https://www.madisonpaigecountry.com/)

From her blonde hair and blue eyes to her voice and heart that are bigger than Texas, she belts out her "sass" and her "independence".  This Texas girl does it all on her own. She has a soft, classic, and vintage sound to her voice as well as, conveying energy, dynamics, and confidence in every performance.

She tells the stories of her own personal experiences. Whether that is the heartbreaks from the man in November or the message to "Stand Tall" against the bullies in our day-to-day lives. She portrays her experiences in songs that her family, friends, and fans can enjoy and relate too. Her music is a cross between Leann Rimes and Patsy Cline on one end and to Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert on the other. Her confidence along with the sass gives her the attitude to enjoy herself on stage as well as, entertain her audience.  Her voice has a natural break in it that is a refreshing version of the young Leann Rimes.  Yet, she has the powerful and strong voice of Carrie Underwood and gets told often how much she sounds like Miranda Lambert.

Thanks for checking out the 259th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! Today, our host Boston Chris talks to Jackson Taylor of Jackson Taylor & The Sinners about his iconic career, the unique way he writes songs and his formula for getting heard! Known as one of the pioneers of Red Dirt and Outlaw Country, it's a huge treat to present this candid conversation to everyone!

(Courtesy of http://www.officialjacksontaylor.com/)

When you’re immortalized in a song written by the likes of Billy Joe Shaver, and recorded by Billy Joe and Willie Nelson, there really is not much more to say than a few facts…

Since 2001 Jackson Taylor has been one of the most prolific songwriters and recording artists of any genres of music, with over a dozen CD’s and multiple times on Billboard’s Top 100 list. All without record companies, management, booking agents, or publicists. Jackson Taylor personifies true independence.

Born the youngest son to a migrant farm worker, Jackson spent his youth living the modern equivalent of Steinbeck’s, “Grapes of Wrath.” With a background much more akin to Merle Haggard and Buck Owens, than his contemporaries. Jackson’s music reflects his adolescence of hard labor and poverty. Growing up working and living in the California, Washington, and Montana fruit ranches. Jackson’s musical influence crosses many boundaries. He has recorded with red dirt legend Jason Boland, and Austin Texas legend Dale Watson. Jonny Two Bags, the lead guitarist of Southern California’s punk innovators and royalty, Social Distortion. As well as rockabilly troubadour Lucky Tubb, and south Texas rockers the Pear Rats. He has shared the stage with everyone from Lynnrd Skynnrd and The Black Crowes, to Willie Nelson and Billy Joe Shaver. Much of Jackson’s career early on was marred by excessive drugs and alcohol, and violent outbursts. Cementing his image as a wild and out of control artist. Leading him to being blacklisted from many venues across the country and internationally.

Thanks for checking out the 258th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! Today, our host Boston Chris talks with the 2018 New Female Vocalist of the Year from The TRRMA's! Julia Hatfield talks about her songwriting, how she balances her creativity with running a brand and her new project she will be working on soon! Tune in as Julia shares 3 original songs and some great insight into the workings of her career!

(Courtesy of http://www.juliahatfield.com/)

Meet Julia Hatfield - a Texas born singer-songwriter who is forging her own retro sound in modern country music.

Already having four top fifty singles to TX/Red Dirt Radio, over one hundred acoustic performances per year, and five years of solo performances already under her belt, you can bet this is one twenty year old you want to get to know.

Like many others, Julia’s love for music was evident from a young age as she began playing piano at six years old and later starting to write and play guitar at thirteen.

Having been raised on a wide variety of music, Hatfield’s dynamic sound has been inspired by artists ranging from Alan Jackson to Michael Jackson and that sound certainly shines through in her performances.

Hatfield has entertained audiences with her unique style all the way from California to Tennessee, and of course, the great state of Texas.

Recently being awarded 2018’s New Female Vocalist of the Year at the Texas Regional Radio Music Awards, Hatfield is making quite the statement in country music at a young age.
