Heading out of one of the gateways to the Texas Hill Country, Dripping Springs, the band decided to embrace their surroundings by incorporating the famous tourist destination into their band name.

In Episode 272 today on The ETX ROCKS Show, we talk to Whey Jennings, grandson of Country Music Icon Waylon Jennings! In a candid conversation with Whey, we chat about his upbringing in music royalty, his own unique sound, the state of music today and much more! Tune in for a great conversation AND 3 original songs from Whey Jennings!!

(Courtesy of https://www.wheyjennings.com/)

Whey Jennings grew up in a family full of country music royalty.  His grandfather, the legendary Waylon Jennings and grandmother Jessi Colter both had major success in the major music charts for decades.

Whey Jennings is a "rough around the edges, unpolished singer" with a voice as big as Texas.  He couldn't go pop with a mouth full of crackers!

Whey Aaron Jennings is the oldest son of his mother Katherine and father Terry Jennings.  Whey has always had a deep love for music since the first time he stepped foot on stage.

Whey was just a boy at one of his grandpa Waylon's shows. His grandma Jessi had just left the stage after singing "Storms Never Last." Jessi left the stage and laid her microphone on a chair backstage. Young Whey picked up the microphone and pranced out onto the stage and began singing "Mamma's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys."

Whey's grandpa Waylon shouted out "Hey hold up there Hoss...wait for me!"   Waylon went to pickin and when the song was finished the crowd went nuts. It was on that day that Whey fell in love with music and as the say... the rest is history.

In Episode 268 today on The ETX ROCKS Show, we talk to Conway, AR native Erin Enderlin! In the art of songwriting, Erin Enderlin is Picasso! Lyrically powerful, melodically beautiful, Erin has long been one of the best songwriters around! She has just recently won Album and Songwriter of the Year at The Arkansas Country Music Awards and her 2017 release "Whiskeytown Crier" is easily one of the best albums to be released of any genre in years! Tune in for a great conversation AND 2 original songs from Erin Enderlin!!

(Courtesy of http://www.erinenderlin.com/)

When Erin Enderlin writes a song, more is born than melody and rhyme. Women and men leap from her music, as fully formed and real as we are, all blood and sweat, living, loving, killing, and dying.

“I love story songs,” Enderlin says from her home in Nashville. “It’s amazing to me how in just three minutes, you can create a whole character who wasn’t there before that you can really see and even understand.”

Enderlin has taken that love of story songs and upped the ante: her new album Whiskeytown Crier puts all the sad souls she’s grown so fond of singing and writing about in the same small, fictional city––Whiskeytown. She explains that the second half of the title is a nod to “a newspaper and the old town criers that used to deliver the news.” Over forlorn steel and haunting fiddle, the town’s secrets are exposed, sometimes with a sense of foreboding that nods to the Louvin Brothers, other times with an empathetic sadness that recalls Reba singing “Fancy.”

In Episode 266 today on The ETX ROCKS Show, we talk to Winchester, TX native Briana Adams! We talk to Briana about the state of country music today, the confidence she has in her songwriting, where she got her love for music from and much more! Tune in for a great conversation AND 3 original songs from Briana Adams!!

(Courtesy of http://www.brianaadams.com/)

She’s not exactly a rebel, but with her musical mashup of Waylon, Skynyrd, and Janis Joplin, you could be forgiven for thinking she is. In reality, Texas singer/songwriter Briana Adams is a sweet-natured Southern crooner that really just wants to share her music with the world.

Her songs are a honky tonk acid trip of classic dancehall and 70’s outlaw country rolled into a tight-knit package, all headlined by a big Texas voice and an unmistakable style that’s all her own. And if you catch a little twist of blues and rock’n’ roll in the vocal, that’s not by accident. Growing up in a small Texas town like Winchester, that’s the way country music is done!
