Thanks for checking out the 206th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! Emanating from Huntsville, TX our guest in this episode has been influenced over the years by a broad range of music. Country, blues, southern rock and other styles of music have brought him to where he is today. Jerrett Zoch is no stranger to the top of the radio charts here in Texas, riding the success of 2 straight singles going #1, Jerrett along with his group The OSR Band, are knocking on the door again with their #2 current single called “Sippin’ On Shine!” All 4 of the singles in his career have graced the top 20, so this is just beginning for this young singer/songwriter! Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to be talking to Jerrett Zoch!!

(Courtesy of http://jerrettzochandtheosrband.com/)

Jerrett Zoch and The OSR Band is a Texas band based out of Huntsville. Their music is influenced by the many different styles they have listened to over the years such as country, blues, southern rock, and many more. “We don’t write our songs to be a certain style or genre. We like to let the feel of a song, create the song.” -Jerrett Zoch

In 2010, Jerrett Zoch and Daniel Huggins, friends from Centerville, Texas, picked up two old guitars and began writing music together for fun. It didn’t take long for them to know they were on to something. Soon after, they were joined by drummer Berny Herrera, from neighboring town, Jewett. With Berny’s addition, the three officially formed the band and began seeking to increase the depth of their music. When they found bass player, Logan Mehringer from Teague, TX, they quickly asked him to join, and when he agreed, they were set to go.

Thanks for checking out the 204th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode, one of our favorite people on the planet is returning to the show for the second time. He grew up right here in Longview, TX, and honed his skills early on under the wings of Unkle Dallas! He learned his craft in long defunct venues all across East Texas in Blues and Rock & Roll! But he is most well known internationally as one of the first Country Artists of Native American descent to be signed to a major label! With 3 albums and 10 charting singles, he could also be considered the first of many video stars on CMT having charted several videos in their top 10 throughout his career. He was also reportedly the first country artist to have his own website! Lately, however, my friend and brother has been battling health issues that have chiefly happened because of a hard on your body lifestyle that many musicians deal with throughout their lives! Ricky Lynn Gregg, the 2017 guitarist of the year for the ETX Music Awards, is no stranger to working hard and playing harder. In this in depth, no questions barred interview, we ask Ricky the hard hitting questions about his lifestyle, his health, his outlook and why he is speaking up against drugs and alcohol! Don’t miss this introspective look into a legend!

(Courtesy of http://rickylynngregg.com/biography.htm)

The release of Ricky Lynn Gregg’s third solo country album, “Careful What You Wish For” (RMG Records, 2001), solidifies Gregg as a mainstay artist in country music. As well known for his edgy brand of country as for his scores of devoted fans, Gregg refines his talent on this 10-song disc, and says he is more proud of this project than any of his previous albums.

Musically diverse, “Careful What You Wish For” is a clear reflection of a man known for his traditional country roots, his rockin country music, and his rangy vocals. This album truly offers something for every-one. From Victoria’s Secret, a deceptively simple Gregg-penned tribute to the inner beauty of women, to Tornado, the hard rockin’, comical story of trouble in a trailer park, this album ranges from southern rock, to stone cold traditional country, to contemporary country pop. Co-produced by Gregg, Barry Beckett and Eddie Gore, legendary blues man Steve Cropper even lent a hand on a few of the tracks.

Thanks for checking out the 203rd episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode we introduce to our audience a brand new guest host and a new segment called “Wednesday’s With Will McPherson! His guest on his first interview with us started his music career somewhere around 1973. Originally from Robbinsville, NC, he is a 6 time Grammy Award winner and has accrued 40 Number 1 hits throughout his career, 3rd only behind George Strait and Conway Twitty in the history of Country Music. Ronnie Milsap is a 2014 inductee into The Country Music Hall of Fame and we are thrilled to present this in depth look at a musical genius. From his upbringing in music all the way to the 21st century, Will covers it all in this insightful conversation with one of the true icons of our generation! Thank you Ronnie Milsap for being our guest on The ETX ROCKS Show!

(Courtesy of http://ronniemilsap.com/)

Those formative teenage years set a tone for an entire lifetime. Personal battles, career goals, ideas about love – figuring out how all of that will play out during adulthood is one of the big chores of those high-school years. Setting the backdrop for much of that inner struggle is the music – it’s the soundtrack of one’s identity, the bond that glues generations.

That idea is at the heart of Ronnie Milsap’s Summer #17, an album that explores the influences on a musician who built a Hall of Fame-caliber career, who became one of the most influential voices in country music’s storied history.

Much has been made about how such new country acts as Eric Church, The Band Perry and Luke Bryan have fused elements of pop music’s past with the country core to create a new wave of sound. But Milsap set the standard for thinking outside of country’s proverbial box.

Thanks for checking out the 202nd episode of the show! Our guest for this episode is no stranger to radio success here in the state of Texas. His last 7 singles have gone straight to #1 status and his current single “You Don’t Have To Be Lonely” is well on it’s way to being #8 in that stretch. Having recently come off a west coast tour with Cody Johnson, Josh Ward is no stranger to East Texas, as he is part of a stable of impressive artists that record right here in Tyler, TX at the renown Rosewood Studios! Josh Ward’s songwriting, deep honky tonk roots and crazy good vocals will keep him on top for years to come!

(Courtesy of http://joshwardmusic.com/)

For most independent music artists, a bold statement like this could easily be waved off as a “head in the clouds” sentiment from a young and naive dreamer, but from Houston native Josh Ward, it just so happens to be a bona fide fact.  Since the release of both his second studio album “Promises” and his latest studio album “Holding Me Together,” Josh has amassed seven consecutive #1hits on the Texas Regional Radio Chart over two solid years and counting, distinguishing him as a new generation heavy weight champion of old school country music. Through tenacity and hard work Josh has grown into one of the most respected and appreciated musicians in the state. A well versed songsmith with a hauntingly traditional voice, his honest and visceral delivery of every song compels audiences to feel his lyrics with him as he takes them on his musical journey.  Fellow songwriter Mike Ethan Messick once said of Josh, "Josh Ward sings like Mike Tyson hits hard."

Thanks for checking out this Season 3 premiere, episode 201 of The ETX ROCKS Show! For this episode, Louise Leone hosts and joining her for the first time as the special co-host is Simon Young! America’s Got Talent’s Simon Cowell called her “America’s Diamond” but here in Eastern Texas we have been watching her grow for over 10 years! 18 months ago she was taking the world by storm as a semi-finalist on AGT captivating everyone with performance after performance on a National Stage! She has also garnered a half dozen ETX Music Awards as well as being named “New Female Vocalist of the Year” at the 2017 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards and “Young RIsing Star” at the 2017 Texas Country Music Awards! We are super excited to return to where it all began as our very first episode’s guest Kadie Lynn returns to ETX ROCKS!

(Courtesy of http://kadielynnmusic.com/)

Welcome to the 1st Chapter of a New York Times Best Seller, “Miss Kadie Lynn, a Musical Masterpiece”. Obviously the living biography of an adopted young girl who has been filled with an overflowing measure of music running through her veins, has barely started her journey.
Her loving and supportive parents knew early on, when at the age of 3, that big voice that came out of her as she stood for the first time before her Church and sang four verses from memory of the most widely known gospel song ever written, “Amazing Grace”, they knew they had something very special in little Miss Kadie Lynn. The next 9 years have been nothing short of amazing blaze, singing for the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, opening for Vanilla Ice and Texas Country Artist Kevin Fowler, and most recently winning “Female Vocalist of the Year” in the East Texas ETX Annual Music Awards.
Now, at the age of 12, she continues to wow audiences all over North Texas, her parents driving her between 200,00 and 300,000 miles a year, just to keep up with the demand on her talent. As a young writer, composer, guitarist, and an artist, Kadie Lynn is always growing, maturing, learning, and stretching to reach new heights, and has taken her 1st original single and video, “Stronger” to studio, completed and ready for release in early 2016. The next two original singles are right behind it, so be looking for them!

Landry & Company is a family band that consists of a father and his two sons.  Oldest son, Landry Wilkinson on guitar and vocals; little brother, Cardis Wilkinson on bass, vocals and keys; and dad, Steve Wilkinson on drums and vocals.
The band was named jokingly when older son, Landry would sit in with his dad's bands at a very young age.  The other band members would call it "Landry & Company".  When little brother Cardis started playing at the age of 6, he rapidly caught up with big brother and dad in talent.  By the time that little brother was 7 years old, the band was playing festivals and events throughout Louisiana, Texas, and even as far away as Florida, keeping the name Landry & Company.

Thanks for checking out the 196th episode of the show! If you like country music, and I mean REAL country music, then you will fall in love with our guest this week! She is a young singer/songwriter from Waco, TX who is not afraid of using the steel guitar, the fiddle and that country wail in her vocals. Listening to her music can take you back and make you think you’re listening to the female Hank Williams Sr! She got her start as the tour manager for Texas legend Jason Eady and later started performing with him and his band. In 2014 she released her first full length album titled “Love & Liquor” and in 2015 was named “Best New Female Vocalist of the Year” by The Texas Regional Radio Music Awards. She is undoubtedly a breath of fresh air for traditional country fans. Let me introduce everyone to Miss Kayla Ray for the first time on The ETX ROCKS Show!!

(Courtesy of http://kaylaraymusic.com/)

Kayla Ray is a young Texas Native who delivers country music with rawness and honesty.  Her music is polished by her feminine sass and bright smile. While she was raised solely by worldly experience and heartache, Kayla has had the incredible ability to overcome any circumstance. The fire this ability has built inside of her rings loud and clear in her genuine delivery of pure country music. She has surrounded herself with music from our past; growing up she poured over the work of country music giants such as: Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Willie Nelson. Although the influence of these artists is prominent in her strong delivery and original lyrics, she has developed a truly unique and captivating style that is all her own. She is very proud and “blessed” as she puts it, to have had the opportunities that she has had thus far in her music career.

Thanks for checking out the 194th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode our host visits with Atlanta, GA native Hope Cassity during her recent tour to Texas! They chat about her creativeness in creating a story in her songs, what exactly reaches her the most in a lyric and her unhealthy celebrity crush on Ryan Gosling! Tune in for this, 2 great songs and much, much more this week on the ETX ROCKS Show!

(Courtesy of https://hopecassitytours.com/)
It took courage, guts, and strength to brave the loss of her beloved father in late 2015. It was a bittersweet year for Hope Cassity, Nashville recording artist who has written countless songs about growing up with deeply southern roots, and haunting ballads about her father, who has always been her source of inspiration. The ball was swiftly rolling with her career, and her hard work gained her momentum while performing close to 200 dates a year including most of the major songwriter festivals in the Southeast. Cassity was featured on the cover of Regional Musician Magazine, earned two nominations for NCMA AWARDS (New Country Music Awards), took home the award for NCMA for Female Vocalist of The Year, and received unprecedented radio airplay for an independent artist. Her song “Closure” was the first songwriter cut recorded by the popular Indie Rock duo Penny Rae, and it became the single for their self-titled album. They subsequently recorded 5 more songs that Hope wrote or co-wrote on their follow up album “Two”. The videos for Cassity's songs the duo recorded aired on 40+TV networks nationwide alongside major label acts such as Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum.

Thanks for checking out the 193rd episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode our host Boston Chris checks in with Ft. Worth native Jackie Darlene! Jackie is the granddaughter of legendary songwriter Whitey Shafer, but she is also quickly creating notice for her own style of artistry while still honoring the rich, musical tradition embedded in her family. Jackie regales us with 2 incredible original tunes and shows us what makes her so unique in this incredible conversation!

(Courtesy of https://www.jackiedarlene.com/)
"Some artists sing only because they want to or because it is something cool or fun to gain attention.  It is a passing fad or hobby that they never fully dedicate themselves to.  There are other artists that write songs and sing them because they must.  It is not just a calling, it is a life they were destined to live.  These acts have something to say and an original way to say it.  Jackie Darlene is clearly and wholeheartedly in this latter category.  Growing up in a musical family (her grandfather is legendary songwriter Whitey Shafer), music is something that came natural to Jackie.

However, what makes her truly special is her passion, desire and work ethic.  Jackie is an old soul in a digital age.  She embraces the future and showcases the past. Her life hasn't always been idyllic and she draws from her world experiences to inform her writing.  Jackie has a knack for capturing the emotional rollercoaster of joy and pain that everyone faces in life and matches it with lyrics and melodies that belie her age.

Thanks for checking out the 190th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode our host talks with Lindale, TX native Riley Redding! Riley is a young singer/songwriter who recently released his debut EP "Shovels & Strings" Riley and Boston talk about the new EP, his process for songwriting and where he hopes to take his music! Riley performs 2 original songs on this episode!!

Courtesy of https://www.facebook.com/pg/rileyreddingmusic)

It's funny how something as simple as a guitar can change someone's life completely; after all, it's only wood glued together and a set of strings. However, that is exactly what it did for a 17 year old, Riley Redding. Growing up he had the inspiration and support of his grandma who was exceptionally talented at piano, guitar, accordion and a vivid songwriter. She bought him his first guitar from a small local music shop called Victor's Music Exchange in Lindale, TX. That's where it all started. Night after night he began learning chord after chord and song after song. Practice became second nature. Summers were spent working, laying water line and sewer mains with his father during the day and learning the way of the troubadour by night.

(Courtesy of https://www.scottconer.com/)

I have spent my own life writing songs or thinking about music in one way or another. Of course, like the rest of the world, I have worked to make a living. But no matter what I was doing, there was music somewhere very close to me. I have been in some very loud factories, yet I have always heard songs. I can’t explain it really. It goes so far back that I don’t remember not having it in my heart. I am a writer I suppose. I write music and words. It’s what I am.

Thanks for checking out the 176th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode our host Boston Chris chats with Ashliegh Lisset from Dallas, TX! Boston chats with Ashliegh about losing her dad in action, what it's like being a survivor and how she paid tribute to her memory of him by pursuing his and her dreams of being a successful singer. They also chat about her first single having been co-written by Carrie Underwood and her current single being co-written by Kelsea Ballerini! Tune in to hear Ashliegh perform both songs! #PurgatoryPerhaps

(Courtesy of http://www.ashlieghlisset.com/)

Ashliegh Lisset, an independent country artist from the great state of Texas, is kind-hearted and cognizant of the impact music has on it's listeners. While this talented, young vocalist has always had a love and appreciation for music, she discovered it was her true passion at the time her world unexpectedly shattered around her.

When Ashliegh was eleven years old, her father, who was serving his second tour for Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in the line of duty. Just before his untimely death, Ashliegh’s father asked her to record Carrie Underwood’s “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” for him, but Ashliegh never had the opportunity to fulfill her father’s request. The memory of her father resonated with Ashliegh and she recognized that music helped fill the void in her heart and provided her with an incomparable escape. “I found so much comfort in music. It definitely helped me heal during the darkest moments of my life and continues to help me heal, present day. When I’m feeling down, I can write about it and get all the emotions out.” It was this realization that led Ashliegh to Nashville, Tennessee, where she began her journey as a singer/songwriter.

Please visit http://www.jbandthemoonshineband.com/ for more information on this incredible artist!

(Courtesy of https://www.facebook.com/JBandtheMoonshineBand/?ref=br_rs)

Some might say the four-piece JB and the Moonshine Band was born the day JB Patterson looked up to see that only three musicians had shown up at his open- call audition in his Tyler, Texas, hometown. Fortunately, Gabe Guevara (drums), Hayden McMullen (lead guitar) and Chris Flores (bass guitar) turned out to be the right three and, after a brief musical and personal get-to-know-you session, everyone realized the stars had aligned to bring them together.

Dan’s lyrical influences such as Kris Kristofferson and Walt Wilkins (who joins Dan on “Troubadour’s Prayer” shine throughout the album with sparing but meaningful use of metaphor and poetic color. "Every time I listen to a Kristofferson album, I think to myself, 'Oh that's where I got that sound,” Johnson remarks.
